Marzena Majcher
Polish composer of contemporary and film music. She graduated from Composition Studies at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw under the direction of Krzysztof Knittel and Instrumental Department – Classical Guitar at the Academy
of Music in Lodz.
She was nominated for the „Grand Prix Komeda” award for the best music in Polish Film and awarded at this Festival (2021). She has released several albums with her music – Chemistry of Love (Requiem Records, 2019), TransMission (Audio Art Festival, 2020). Her important works are – Figures for symphony orchestra (2016), The music of fractal plants for string orchestra (2019), TransLocation (2021), Ishtar (2020). Her music has been presented at the International Festivals: Music Festival Ecos Urbanos (Mexico City, 2021), 14th International Festival of Contemporary Music and Visual Arts (Bydgoszcz, 2018), Festival Audio Stage (Warsaw, 2020). She also creates interactive music, uses the latest technologies in music – interactive devices – Exformer and Danceformer.
The composer is the author of music for over 40 films. Her recognizable works are music for feature films: Amateurs – dir. Iwona Siekierzynska (2021) A French Woman – dir. Kim Hee-Jung (2019), Hanoi – Warsaw – dir. Katarzyna Klimkiewicz (2009). Films with her music have been presented at Film Festivals around the world and have won numerous awards – the „Hollywood Eagle Award” at the Polish Film Festival in Los Angeles, the Main Award at the „Off Camera” Festival in Cracow, and the Slamdance Film Festival in the USA. She took part in The MUSE-IC project (Paris 2018), Seconds Concert Series (USA, Boston 2017), Tesla Quartet Call for Scores 2017 (USA, Quincy). She is a member of the ZaiKS and PseME Artistic Associations.
