Izabela Kościesza (choreographer, dancer) and Jarek Kordaczuk (composer) are
a couple of artists who, over the years of cooperation, have developed their own, unique language. Their focus is on sonokinetic activities (as they call them), i.e. those in which movement (choreography) is not only the result of music but also contributes to it. By interacting with various sensors and animating electronic or acoustic objects, the dancer influences the sound of the piece. She generates or processes sounds, builds the form of the resulting work.

Their sonokinetic projects are very often based on technology: electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, optics etc. In the Harmidorium project, the artists sonically enliven two-meter-tall concrete blocks. The project Awaiting is built of sounds produced from random, highly amplified objects and a „noisy” skirt of a dancer woven from plastic caps. While the project Lesza is an audiostage work, a kind of monodrama in which the dancer herself builds a forest story using the surrounding motion sensors and biomedical electrodes attached to the body. Jarek Kordaczuk is also a constructor of an instrument called monoctone with hyperexpressive properties. Hence, this instrument is present in many sonokinetic live compositions.

The Kościesza / Kordaczuk Duo often addresses their activities to the youngest. One of the most popular projects of this type is the workshop and installation Which way to the sound?.
