Małgorzata Kołcz

Double bass player, cultural animator, author of poetic texts. Scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Association of Authors ZAiKS, graduate of the double bass class at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk senior lecturer. Janusz Dobrowolski and classical philology at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań.

In 2022, she received the seventh Honorary Award of the Polish Composers’ Union in history for her merits in the field of music education. The justification appreciated the extraordinary ingenuity and commitment to shaping the attitudes of future recipients of high culture.

As a chamber musician and orchestra musician, she took part in concerts with various chamber ensembles and orchestras, such as: Wilanów Quartet, Opium String Quartet, European Festival Orchestra „Probaltica”, Polish Radio Orchestra, Mazowiecki Musical Theater Orchestra, Kalisz Philharmonic, Baltic Philharmonic, Polish Theater Dance by Ewa Wycichowska and others. While creating musical events, she also collaborated with composers: A. Sławiński, R. Twardowski, A. Gronau, A. Ignatowicz-Glińska, J. A. P. Kaczmarek, Z. Preisner, P. Moss, A. Williams, J. Daw, J. Siwiński, R. Osada, A. Porębski et al. One of Małgorzata Kołcz’s most important musical undertakings was the Trillingen Duo ensemble, created together with Iwona Jędruch (gongs, singing bowls, violin, white singing), performing experimental and improvised music.

Małgorzata Kołcz combines musical activity with work dedicated to culture, designs and organizes cultural events and actively promotes classical music and its creators. He is a co-creator of many events, such as: the nationwide festival „Pictures from Conrad”, the Warsaw Summer Festivals of New Town, „Musical Landscapes of Czesław Miłosz”, the festival „Music of Words by Zbigniew Herbert”, concerts of premieres „Pictures from Warsaw”, the series performative „Audio Stage”, meetings with composers „Contemporary music doesn’t bite”, improvisation workshops for children „Tell me a fairy tale”, dance and acting workshops „Ziemia Kłodzka Tańczy” and workshops for young musicians „Don’t be afraid to improvise!”.
She collaborated with the International Festival of Contemporary Music „Warsaw Autumn”. For many years, she has been cooperating with the Polish Society for Contemporary Music, the Polish Composers’ Union, the „Przyjaciele Muzyki” Culture Support Foundation and the Warsaw Music Meetings festival.

She is also the author of poetic texts for adults and children. She collaborates with the composer Jarosław Siwiński, and the effects of this cooperation are, among others, such works as „Ornithology”, the micro-opera „The Silent Fish”, „Three misfits with a rather fairy-tale text” and „Groceries” based on her three poems from the series „And if so…”.
