Mateusz Śmigasiewicz
Mateusz Śmigasiewicz (b. 1989) is a Polish composer, sound artist and musician. He studied with prof. Zygmunt Krauze at Fryderyk Chopin Music University and in 2015 gained a master degree in composition and multi-media (graduation – 2015). He participated in master classes with many composers, including Simon Steen-Andersen, Phillippe Manoury, Johannes Kreidler, Mark Andre, Stefan Prins, Marco Stroppa, Ondřej Adámek. Mateusz works in many areas, composing chamber music, electroacoustic, electronic music and music film and theater.
He is interested in detuning existing consonances, thickening textures, stretching time, expanding space – also by creating in close collaboration with the performer. He works intuitively, although processuality is important to him. He loves to arrange situations in which the rules of communication are not entirely clear, using premonitions instead of words.
