Karol Radziwonowicz
Pianist educated in Poland and the USA with years of performing experience
in various musical centers throughout Europe, North and South America, Australia, and Asia. After graduation from The Chopin National Music Academy in Warsaw with the highest honors, Radziwonowicz has won prizes at several important competitions, including the American Scholarship Fulbright Competition, which later enabled him to perfect his skills under György Sebők at the Indiana University
in Bloomington.
Radziwonowicz has cooperated with many well-known symphony orchestras frequently collaborated with renowned conductors as Kazimierz Kord, Jan Krenz, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Antoni Wit, Nikolai Aleksiejew. He has also appeared in many famous international festivals and concert halls.
One of the great Radziwonowicz successes was his performance at Carnegie Hall
in New York, where he has performed Paderewski’s Piano Fantasy with Sinfonia Varsovia, on the 60th anniversary of I. J. Paderewski’s death. After that triumph, Radziwonowicz has received the invitation to perform at Musik Festspielehause
in Salzburg, Austria. Afterward, he has been invited to perform Mozart Concerto
in Berliner Philharmonic Chamber Concert Hall. His performance of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto opened the concert season of „Societé des Concerts de Fribourg”
in Switzerland. He has presented his art at one of the most prestigious concert venues – Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. Many times he has performed Chopin’s
and polish music recitals at Hermitage Theater in w St. Petersburg and Moscow Conservatory Concert Hall. His concert with Philharmonie Baden Baden has opened the Chopin Year 2010 in Belgium. He has also given the cycle of polish music recitals in Tel Aviv and Jerozolime, Izrael. He has also appeared at Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing.
Karol Radziwonowicz has been the only pianist in the world, who recorded Chopin’s music for the special NASA Space Project. In February 2010, because of the Chopin Anniversary, during the “Endeavour” space shuttle assignment his recording was listened to in Space and place to the orbital station forever. The particular recording was issued by the EMI record company. He has been the first in the history of world recordings to record all of the piano works of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, awarded
by French critics (Diapason). Together with the string quintet, I Solisti di Varsavia, Radziwonowicz recorded compact discs of all orchestra works of Chopin
in chamber arrangements – Bestseller 1999 in Canada and distinguished with
a nomination for the 2002 Fryderyk award in Poland. He has released various CDs with polish music of romantic composers such Karol Mikuli and Juliusz Zarębski. His recording “The Chopin Masterpieces” was recorded in 2009 on a very special Bösendorfer piano – model Chopin.
The pianist is also involved in pedagogic activity – invited by various universities
to lead master classes both at home and abroad. He is a juror of many international piano competitions. He has been a founder and for many years chairman of the jury of the Competition for young pianists „Chopin Golden Ring” in Slovenia. He is
a lecturer in the piano class at the Music School of Z. Brzewski for gifted youth,
and The Chopin University of Music in Warsaw as well.
In recognition of his pedagogical activity, the pianist was elected president of the Polish branch of the EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association).
Karol Radziwonowicz is the president of I. J. Paderewski International Society
for Polish Music, and vice-president of The Chopin Society in Warsaw.
