Studied composition with Stefan Poradowski at the State Academy of Music in Pozna\u0144 (1955 \u2013 56), followed by studies with Tadeusz Szeligowski in Warsaw (1956 &#8211; 59). Penherski has also studied \u00a0conducting\u00a0 with Bohdan Wodiczko (1960 -63). Holder of a Dutch government scholarschip, studied at the Instituteof Sonology in Utrecht (1969). Prize winner of composition competition such as:\u2028Young Composers\u2019 Competition of the Polish Composers\u2019\u00a0 Union (1960),\u00a0 Grzegorz Fitelberg Competition (1964) for \u201eMusica humana\u201d; Artur Malawski Competition (1976) for \u201eMasurian Chronicles\u201d, Composing Competition In Gda\u0144sk (1992) for \u201eCantus\u201d, Polish Radio\u00a0 Competition (1995) for \u201eGenesis\u201d.<br \/>Honoraty citizen of Kragujewac in Yugoslavia, Russe in Bulgaria and Ho-Chi-Minh in Wietnam. Awarded the Silver Cross of Merit (1975) and the Award of the Prime Minister of Poland, for Works for children and youth (1982). Member of Stage Artists and Composers\u2019 Association sice 1961, Polish Composers\u2019 Union since 1963, Polish Contemporary Music Association. Honorary member of the Scottish Society of Composers (1987). Penherski\u2019s music has been performed in Poland and abroad, including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, the Sowiet Union and USA.\u2028Penherski\u2019s work consists predominantly of orchestra and chaber music, radio works and operas. The most important compositions include: \u201eMusica humana\u201d for baritone solo, mixed choir and symphony orchestra (1963), \u201eStreet Music\u201d for chamber ensemble (1966), opera \u201eThe Twilight of Peryn\u201d (1972), \u201eMasurian Chronicles II\u201d for symphony orchestra and tape (1973), \u201eString Play\u201d for string orchestra (1980), opera \u201eEdgar \u2013 the Son of Walpor\u201d (1982), \u201eScottish Chronicles for symphony orchestra (19870, \u201eLittre Music for the End of Century\u201d (2000), \u201eLittle String Litany\u201d for string orchestra (2002). \u201eFour Psalms\u201d for mixed choir (2005).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Zbigniew Penherski fot.
